» vanessa1913 - Support Groups

I was diagnosed w/ Grave's about 7 months ago. As many of you know, it has been a roller coaster ride. My family is wonderful and supportive, but they in no way can imagine how I feel most days. Does anyone have any resources for support groups? I am in the Denver, CO area....any help would be a lifesaver!

In response to Support Groups posted by vanessa1913:
Hi Vanessa,
If you look in the Denver Post they should have a listing of local support groups in your area. There may not be one on
Graves' disease but there should be one for thyroid conditions. Today, more and more people seek out online support groups rather than local groups. Some excellent resources include the Graves' board at www.mediboard.com and there are some people from Denver on that board. Also, the graves_support group at yahoogroups.com is excellent. The American Foundation of Thyroid Patients also has a patient-mentor type program in which patients are paired up with other patients.
I live about 70 miles away in the Colorado Springs area, and my hospital workplace has so many employees with autoimmune thyroid disorders we could probably form our own support group. If you start asking around, you might find how common thyroid disorders are in this area.
Best, Elaine
