- Mixed Up
In response to Mixed Up posted by cowlover614: Hi Shirl, Has your doctor run any other tests, like a CBC or metabolic profile? You might need to go to your regular GP to make sure there's not something else going on. Some people are sensitive to caffeine so that could account for your symptoms. The generic levothyroxine has the same ingredient as the brand name pills but the formulation is different. That is, they can have different fillers that the drug is suspended in and different dyes. The meds can also be absorbed differently. But I don't think you'd develop sudden or acute symptoms from the meds since your blood levels should be stable now. Leg pain can be serious since there's always a chance of blood clots causing it. I'd probably stick with your endo's plan for getting your thyroid regulated but make an appt with your GP to see if anything else is going on. Best, Elaine

In response to colors posted by cowlover614: Hi Shirl, I'm not sure about the prisms of colors unless you were looking in bright light and had a reaction. Or perhaps this occurred as double vision and you were seeing two different fields of vision. I'd watch for further signs and mention this symptom when you see your ophthalmologist. I hope you start feeling better soon. Best, Elaine

In response to Mixed Up posted by daisyelaine: Elaine The doctor did a CBC, Basic Metabolic Panel, and Lipid Panel when she did my labs 5/14. Everything was ok all in range. So I don't understand what else could be going on. I did call doctor and am going in the morning. Whatever is going on it's almost like a panic attack. Thanks for your help Shirl

In response to Mixed Up posted by cowlover614: Hi Shirl, I'm glad you were able to get an appointment. Let us know what you find out. Panic and anxiety are common symptoms in hypothyroidism and symptoms can change over time especially with your levels changing. Best, Elaine

In response to Mixed Up posted by daisyelaine: I really didn't get anywhere! My B/P was 150/100. I still have the headache I got yesterday after my light show! She asked me if I wanted some pills for my headache. I explained what happened Friday she did up my Toprol to 50. Gave me lab slip for two weeks. Told me she wouldn't put me back on the levothyroxine but that maybe the Endo would lower my dose of snythroid if the heart palps continues. She just said she thinks everything going on is thyroid related. And to keep the Endo appt for July. I give up. Shirl

In response to Mixed Up posted by cowlover614: Hi Shirl, Your blood pressure is high enough to be causing the symptoms you mention. The increased dose of your beta blocker should help lower your bp readings. The Dash Diet, which you can read about online, is another way you can help lower your bp. Best, Elaine

In response to colors posted by cowlover614: Hi Shirl! It's me! Well, I popped in here and saw your letter about seeing zigzag prisms ...are they like zig zag line that is curved in a half circle/crescent curve? Are they like flourescent almost? I wonder if you have want I have long have ...ocular migraines! Nothing to worry about, by the way. So I will keep reading your letters and see how you are doing.... My eyes are no longer gritty but still can weep, and still puff (the upper lid/under brow area) puff if I allow myself to cry the day before...like I did yesterday! Good grief. I still do the pillow thing (but tend to slide down by morning)and tucks/ice packs at night. Won't know more until my next labs in August (I am "borderline" Grave according to my last labs.)

In response to Mixed Up posted by cowlover614: Hi, Shirl. I will just add that ...recall we joked about coffee before. I hate to say that indeed I have switched to defaf. Thought that would NEVER happen..but the anxiety...well,just did cut out the caffeine as likely caffeine could only exacerbate anxiety (or so I think). Anyway...never thought I would see the day..but I pretend it is caffeinated and really can't tell the difference and apparently I don't need caffeine to wake up anymore! ha...or rather...oh, dear! OH, well, as to Witch Hazel (main ingredient in Tucks)...the first time I heard about that was I read something about Tucks being a "model'secret to reducing bags under the eye". That is how I thought of that and so am glad to hear that Five Breaths finds some help from using it! B^)

In response to Mixed Up posted by daisyelaine: Thanks Elaine, I never had a B/P problem before but I guess that could explain some of what has been going on. This is scary stuff I thought I was gonna die! I think cybee could be right about the Ophthalmic Migraine. Although I've had migraines most of my life, first time that ever happened. It's almost midnight here and I still have this stupid headache.I've had them so bad over the years, all I could do was sleep them off. Wonder what other surprizes I have in store. I sure could have passed all this up! The only thing that really helps is to know I'm not alone with this. I'll check out that diet. Besides everyone tells me to be careful about what I'm eating because of the thyroid so do I still avoid iodine? Ok this is off subject! Just to let you know you live in my favorite State of all! Colorado I lived in the Springs for about three yrs. I miss it and one of these days I want to move back! Nothing better then the mountains! Pure Gods country! I pull up the cam for Pikes Peak quite often. The day I rode the tram up it was warm, had shorts on got to the top and froze! Shirl

In response to colors posted by cybee: Hey glad to know your still hangin in there! I've been so ready to give up! This has been the worst! I just had the zigzag lines colored blue, red, and yellow. It was weird and lasted about 15 minutes. I've had migraines but never that. I tried covering my eyes which didn't help. It scared me glad to know it could be that! My eyes aren't gritty either just still have alot of swelling and tearing. This is the pitts for sure. I cried yesterday stress here is still bad. But I just was depressed thinking I'm never gonna get better. I am so really tired of feeling so bad! So you went to decaf I went back to reg. I need to cut way back on the caffine. Just been hitting the pop to much also! I've been trying to drink more iced tea. I have to be careful my ankles have been swelling. I'm starting to gain a few pds. Lord knows I don't want to end up looking like a twinkie on top of everything else! take care Shirl
