» peter43 - therapy of Polymyalgia rheumatica

Hello,
since 8 years I have Polymyalgia rheumatica and I take cortison since then between 5 and 30mg per day. NSAR like aspirine don´t help me.
Is it useful to make some sports or to do a physical therapy?
Thank you very much for your help.

Hi Peter,
Exercise is reported to help relieve symptoms in polymyalgia rheumatica. Exercise is reported to reduce pain and improve your overall sense of well-being. It can also help prevent weight gain, a common side effect of taking corticosteroids. The experts suggest using low-impact exercises such as swimming, walking and riding a stationary bicycle. Moderate stretching also is important for keeping your muscles and joints flexible.
There are several reports of patients with PR using a combination of methotrexate and corticosteroids. This can allow patients to take a break from the steroids. Best, elaine
