Exercise is reported to help relieve symptoms in polymyalgia rheumatica. Exercise is reported to reduce pain and improve your overall sense of well-being. It can also help prevent weight gain, a common side effect of taking corticosteroids. The experts suggest using low-impact exercises such as swimming, walking and riding a stationary bicycle. Moderate stretching also is important for keeping your muscles and joints flexible.
There are several reports of patients with PR using a combination of methotrexate and corticosteroids. This can allow patients to take a break from the steroids. Best, elaine
