In response to L-carnitine posted by edgeblue:
Hi,
L-carnitine L-tartrate is ok to take but most experts recommend using acetyl-L-carnitine because it passes through the blood-brain barrier and helps rejuvenate the cells that make up the central nervous system.
For immune system health, it's important to address the immune, nervous, and endocrine systems since each of these systems influence the others.

Acetyl-l-carnitine also helps boost tissue levels of the antioxidants CoQ10 and glutathione and helps restore cortisol receptors depleted during stress.

Expense would be another factor. If you're buying supplements directly from your naturopath or other health practitioner you may be paying more than you would than if you're able to comparison shop. For instance, I buy supplements from Life Extension, Puritan's Pride and the Vitamin Shoppe depending on current prices.
