» Kathy07 - MULTIPLE AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE

Hi Elaine,

I think I may have MAD syndrome but I don't quite fit the disease that are published in the article.

http://www.uveitis.org/medical/articles/...

Can one have three different autoimmune disease other that the one's listed and still have this syn drum?

I have Discoid Lupus, Psoriasis and Uveitis and am testing high pos for RA RF 320 Anti-ccp 250, at this point I do not have RA, it is poly-arthritis But I am told that because of these high numbers I will develop ra in time.

I have read that early treatment with methotrexate has shown the progression to stop in some patients with these antibody's. Do You think this is possible?

Are there other treatments I can take for my autoimmune diseases?

Thanks Kathy

In response to MULTIPLE AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE posted by Kathy07:
Hi Kathy,
Yes, you can have other multiple autoimmune diseases. The ones I listed are the ones that have been reported in the literature. But as you know, most physicians don't publish articles about their patients, and since these aren't reportable diseases there's no way to truly know how many people might have the same conditions you've mentioned.
Your CCP suggest rheumatoid arthritis, but I'm not sure there are sufficient studies to tell if moderately high titers of CCP might show up in psoriatric arthritis. Psoriatic arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are both systemic disorders, which would cause a polyarthritis. You might want to read my article on psoriatic arthritis.

Many of the immunosuppressants like methotrexate have side effects and for this reason many doctors won't use them as a preventive measure. But this would be an excellent time to try an anti-inflammation diet such as Dr. Hyman's Ultra Metabolism. You can also follow the suggestions I list in the articles on diet and supplements for lupus and related disorders. These sound like such simple measures, but they truly can make amazing changes that not only reduce the inflammatory autoimmune process but promote general health.
Since you already have antibody levels this would be a good time to try dietary changes for several months and then have these levels repeated. We'd all love to hear your success story here. Best, Elaine
